COASTAL ESTATE, JERSEY, CHANNEL ISLANDS
Completed: Spring 2011
“Sitting in a secluded yet elevated position in a historic and beautiful bay, the buildings and gardens have been designed to enhance their setting and create interest at every turn. ”
This 15,000 sq ft family home occupies a prominent coastal location in Jersey. The house has been extensively remodelled and extended, to the extent that only part of the original principal façade remains. Work includes complete internal remodelling and reordering of rooms, creating a large kitchen, dining room, drawing room and study facing the sea, while a cinema and billiard room are placed at the rear.
The principal entrance has been completely redesigned to create an imposing double height hallway, while the main staircase has been relocated and replaced with a new oak, bronze and stainless steel bespoke design. The house is fitted throughout with air conditioning, intelligent integrated audio visual and lighting control. On the upper floor, the original nine bedrooms have been remodelled into five bedroom suites, each with dressing rooms and en-suite bathrooms.
In addition to the main residence, the property also includes three smaller estate houses, a beach house, a boat house, a tennis court, and internal and external swimming pools.
Witcher Crawford has overseen the complete restoration and remodelling of the house and estate buildings, including a beach house converted from a WW2 German bunker. Work includes landscaping and various new smaller ancillary buildings including an ornamental dog kennel, log store, folly and tennis pavilion.
